Severe budget cuts for heritage budgets

The Heritage Council's budget for 2013 has been further cut, following on from very severe cuts every year since 2009. Other statutory heritage bodies have fared just as badly, if not even worse. This all at a time when heritage is being touted as a means of attracting tourists to Ireland.

The Heritage Council issued a press release spelling out the likely consequences of this cut on the heritage sector in Ireland.
